The martial world is in turmoil, the Destined One, carrying a supreme mission, ventures into Snowhill Path – the third chapter of Black Myth: Wukong, where snow-covered mountain ranges rise amidst the vast sky, and the wind howls, carrying a bone-chilling cold. A far cry from the arid, scorching desert of the previous chapter, Snowhill Path guides the Destined One to The New West – a new land harboring countless dangers and earth-shattering secrets.
Trust in my experience, Destined Ones. Let us take these steps together, conquer the snow-covered Snowhill Path, and make our names renowned throughout the martial world!
A Start Amidst the Ice Cave
The cold wind howls fiercely, and the white snow obscures the path as the Destined One ventures into the desolate ice cave, where faint light filters through the cracks, casting an ethereal glow upon the ancient, silent statues, exuding an unfathomable aura of mystery. This marks the beginning of Snowhill Path, a treacherous, snow-covered mountain route, and before the Destined One lies the task of finding an escape from this dark abyss, hoping to reach the Frost-Clad Path Shrine, the first waystation on the arduous road ahead.
Barely a few steps taken, the Destined One encounters Monk Supporters, monstrously large monks, their bodies sluggish, yet harboring extraordinary inner strength. They swing massive boulders, like falling meteors, seeking to impede one’s progress. But the Destined One is no ordinary being; by merely executing Rock Solid (a defensive martial art, using stillness to overcome motion, blocking ten thousand attacks), how could those boulders even graze their clothes?
Shrouded in the deep darkness, Cyan Bats, a species of sinister ice bats, small yet swift, make their presence known. Compared to the Swift Bats (a species of bat that attacks with hidden projectiles) of Yellow Wind Ridge, they are even more treacherous. They shoot forth chilling ice spears, launching sudden ambushes from all directions. To deal with these bats, the Destined One must utilize Thrust Stance (a superb qinggong, enabling one to close in on enemies in the blink of an eye), pursuing and finishing them off.
As you follow the slope deeper into the cave, Destined One, keep your gaze to the left. There lies a serene, secluded pond, where a Jade Lotus (a rare and precious flower, capable of healing internal injuries) blooms radiantly. Beside it, a fierce Monk Supporter stands guard over a treasure chest. Seize that treasure chest, for within it surely lies Cold Iron Leaves (thousand-year-old cold iron leaves, a treasured material for forging divine weapons) along with other rare and precious treasures.
The deeper you venture into the cave, the more fiercely the cold wind howls, and the more unpredictable the Cyan Bats become, appearing and disappearing amidst the swirling snow. Before leaving the cave, seek out and absorb the green Wisp (wandering spirit, containing spiritual energy) to nourish your strength and prepare to face the earth-shattering challenges that await you.
Footsteps on the Snow-Covered Path
Emerging from the gloomy ice cave, the Destined One sets foot on Frost-Clad Path, a path covered in white snow, where the mountain wind howls, carrying snowflakes dancing in the air. Cast your gaze to the left, where the snow sparkles, to find a sprig of Gentian – a precious herb that grows in the icy region.
Amidst the desolate snowy path, Frost-Clad Path Shrine appears as an ideal resting place. This is where the Destined One can rest, recover, and prepare for the challenges ahead. In the Shrine Shop, pay attention to Body-Warming Powder, Shock-Quelling Powder, Longevity Decoction, and Mind Core. In addition, if you have gathered enough spiritual power and materials, the Destined One can forge the Ochre Armor Set and Rat Sage Staff – powerful weapons to slay demons and monsters. (Or Loongwreathe Staff, if you have subdued the Red Loong and Black Loong in previous challenges).
As you collect yourself, the Destined One suddenly hears a rustling sound, a strange monkey throws a fruit, awakening the Frozen Corpse from its eternal slumber. They move slowly, wielding spiked clubs or ice blades, their bodies emanating a chilling aura. Remember, Destined One, the Frozen Corpses carrying spiked clubs will continue to swing their weapons even after being defeated, causing damage for a short time.
From Frost-Clad Path Shrine, follow the trail, the Destined One will discover a hidden path leading to a green Wisp, along with two fierce Frozen Corpses guarding it. Be cautious, but do not retreat!
Near the Shrine, the Destined One can find Gentian and Gentian Seeds – the seeds of this extraordinary flower.
Confronting Yaoguai Chief – Macaque Chief (First Encounter)
Leaving Frost-Clad Path, the Destined One arrives at a vast, snow-covered plain. Here, Macaque Chief, a ferocious monkey demon, with extraordinary agility, awaits to challenge you. The martial world is full of perils, Destined One, do not underestimate this battle. Although it is only the first encounter, Macaque Chief is a formidable opponent, harboring many sinister schemes. He will flee when he senses the risk of defeat, preserving his life to await an opportunity for revenge.
Macaque Chief uses Frost in his martial arts techniques, causing a freezing effect, slowing down your progress and making it difficult for the Destined One to dodge. Prepare Body-Warming Powder to dispel the cold, keeping the body agile and the blood flowing.
Macaque Chief appears at first glance to be no ordinary foe. He wields a great saber, slashing out sharp Vacuum Slice projectiles that tear through the air like dragons, with unparalleled force.
At times, he spins like a top, wielding the great saber continuously, ending with a backflip and a powerful projectile slash.
At other times, he jumps into the air, slams the great saber down, then scratches with sharp claws (claw swipes). The Destined One should not approach from behind, as it will be easy to be hit by a series of blows, depleting energy.
Not only that, Macaque Chief also rolls on the ground, creating a whirlwind slice, and then finishes with a powerful downward slam.
He can also unleash three rapid slashes, followed by a jump, a vertical slam, and ending with a dangerous diagonal slice, a series of unpredictable moves.
Sometimes he delivers three alternating slashes, swings the saber upwards, spins around to deliver multiple slashes (spinning multi-hit slash), then slashes out a wave of saber energy (projectile slash).
The martial world whispers that Macaque Chief also has a cruel finishing move, which is to pretend to surrender, then suddenly use his tail to flip the great saber, launching an unexpected deadly blow. In addition, he can spew out a pool of venom, spreading miasma, causing the Poison status, gradually draining vitality, causing the poisoned person immense suffering.
Confronting Macaque Chief, the Destined One must be extremely cautious. Use charged heavy strikes to break his defense, create an opening, and unleash a finishing blow. Accumulate Focus from light attack combos, then unleash powerful strikes after successfully blocking, causing the enemy to lose energy. In addition, Immobilize is also an effective technique to control Macaque Chief, preventing him from performing combos, and gaining the upper hand.
When Macaque Chief’s health is reduced to half, he will realize the danger, immediately flee, and preserve his life for another day. After repelling Macaque Chief, the Destined One will receive Will as a reward.
Exploring the Walled Temple
After the fierce battle with Macaque Chief, the Destined One follows the snow-covered path, arriving at an ancient temple, surrounded by towering walls, covered in moss, exuding an air of solemnity, antiquity, and no less mystery (Walled Temple).
This place is the territory of the Cyan Bat – a species of sinister ice bats, hiding in the shadows, often lurking on the bare, dry trees in this area, waiting for an opportunity to ambush passersby. In addition, the Destined One must also be wary of Yaksha Patrollers – fierce warriors, with movements as swift as lightning and the ability to use weapons with masterly skill, their expertise refined to perfection. They often throw weapons from afar, creating cunning, unpredictable trajectories. The Destined One should use Rock Solid to block long-range attacks, or wait until they unleash the final blow in the combo chain to counterattack, using softness to overcome hardness. Even more dangerous is the Supercharged Yaksha Patroller – an enhanced version of the Yaksha Patroller, with superior strength, abundant energy, and surrounded by a horde of fierce Frozen Corpses.
Right when you reach the foot of the stairs leading up to the temple, cast your gaze to the left. The Destined One will see a jutting rock, where there is a section of rotten wooden planks. Carefully jump across it, following the precarious cliff, the Destined One will find a hidden Treasure Chest, containing Refined Iron Sand a thousand-year-old treasure for forging divine weapons.
Entering the open area to the right of the temple, the Destined One will face a Yaksha Patroller, along with a green Wisp hovering nearby. Further in the distance is a locked building, its entrance tightly shut, currently inaccessible.
Climbing the stone stairs, the Destined One will have to face a horde of Frozen Corpses and another Yaksha Patroller. After defeating them, absorb the green Wisp to restore your internal energy.
Continuing onward, the Destined One will come to a fork in the road. Turn right, proceed onto the sloping path, where a Supercharged Yaksha Patroller, surrounded by a horde of Frozen Corpses, awaits. This is a difficult battle, use Pluck of Many magically creating clones of oneself and Spirit Transformations transforming into a demon to overwhelm the enemy, using numbers to defeat the strong. When the Supercharged Yaksha Patroller falls, the Destined One will receive the Mountain Patroller Spirit and a Treasure Chest containing Blood of the Iron Bull a legendary elixir that increases physical strength and strengthens tendons and bones.
Nearby, the Destined One can find a Ginsengling hiding in the bushes.
Returning to the fork in the road, this time descend the slope, following the narrow path, the Destined One will discover a house with a thatched roof, where a Cyan Bat is hiding in wait. Inside the house is a Treasure Chest containing many useful items, not to be missed.
Continuing across the stone bridge, the Destined One will meet the Keeper of the New West – a mysterious creature who will transform the Destined One into a bat, opening a new and unexpected journey.
Mirrormere
After being transported by the Keeper of the New West to a new land, the Destined One will arrive at Mirrormere – a vast lake, its frozen surface reflecting the surrounding scenery like a giant mirror, creating a scene of ethereal beauty, both shimmering and serene.
The Destined One will appear at the Mirrormere Shrine. Activate it to save your progress and recover.
From the Shrine, turn to the right, and the Destined One will find Fire Bellflowers, a Celestial Pear tree – where one can harvest celestial pears, along with a group of Frozen Corpses and Cyan Bats.
Proceed towards the frozen lake on the right. There, the Destined One will find a Turtle chest hidden among the ice and snow. Inside lies the Stranded Loong’s Whisker Soak a rare and precious treasure that increases the duration of the Immobilize ability, providing crucial support in battle.
From the Shrine, head to the left, and the Destined One will continue to face groups of Frozen Corpses.
Defeat all the Frozen Corpses in this area to the left, and the Destined One will receive the Mani Band curio – according to rumors in the martial world, it has the ability to resist Frost, protecting the body from the cold. (However, according to Source 2, this information has not yet been verified; whether it is true or not, the Destined One must ascertain for themselves).
Also in the area to the left, near the lakeshore, the Destined One will find a Treasure Chest containing a Mind Core and Refined Iron Sand.
Nearby, under the base of a towering, ancient tree, the Destined One will discover a Meditation Spot a place where one can absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, increasing Skill Point Spark, helping the Destined One to cultivate their martial arts and elevate their skills.
The Battle with the Yaoguai Queen – Kang-Jin Loong
Advancing towards the temple in the middle of Mirrormere, the Destined One will confront Kang-Jin Loong – the mighty Yaoguai Queen, an ice dragon with earth-shattering power, guarding the sacred lake. Prepare yourself for a life-or-death battle, full of hardship and challenges, where carelessness is not an option!
Kang-Jin Loong uses lightning as a weapon. The Destined One should prepare Shock-Quelling medicine to neutralize her thunderous attacks, which strike like divine punishment.
Kang-Jin Loong possesses a massive body, her dragon scales gleaming, radiating an imposing aura. She can charge from afar with terrifying speed, her dragon jaws wide open, ready to tear her prey apart (Charging Bite Attack). At times, she claws with her sharp talons (Claw Swipe), then attacks with her tail from behind (Tail Slash), her techniques incredibly cunning. Kang-Jin Loong can also stomp her claws on the ground (Stomping), creating shockwaves accompanied by lightning, causing the lake’s surface to tremble. Sometimes, she whips her gigantic tail unexpectedly (Tail Whip), with unparalleled force.
When close, Kang-Jin Loong will exhale a breath of ice and lightning at close range (Short-range Breath Attack). Even more terrifying, when soaring in the sky, she will exhale a breath of ice from afar (Long-range Breath Attack), covering a vast area, from which no one can escape. The pinnacle of Kang-Jin Loong’s martial prowess is summoning streaks of lightning to strike the ground (Lightning Summon), attacking continuously, and shooting sharp lightning blades, pursuing the target (Lightning Blades), giving the enemy no time to react.
After defeating Kang-Jin Loong, the Destined One will receive Relic: Will x1600, Starlit Cloud-Bidden Antler, Refined Iron Sand x2.
Ahead of the Destined One lies Pagoda Realm, a new challenge, a new land with mysteries waiting to be unraveled. Continue to cultivate your martial arts, hone your weapons, and prepare yourself for the battles to come.
