Playing as the Monkey King in Black Myth: Wukong, you’ve probably tasted defeat because your Health ran out too quickly, you didn’t have enough Mana, or your Stamina ran out in the middle of a battle? Don’t worry, this article will show you three “secret” ways to maximize these three important stats, turning you into an “invincible” warrior!
Part 1: Upgrading through Skills – The Foundation of Strength
The first way, and also the foundation of increasing strength in Black Myth: Wukong, is through the skill system. This is something you will get acquainted with from the beginning of the game, and it will follow you throughout your journey. To upgrade skills, you need to follow these steps:
Open the Menu: First, open the game’s main menu.
Access “Self-Advancement”: Find and select the “Self-Advancement” item. This is where you “customize” your character.
Select the “Foundation” tab: In “Self-Advancement”, you will see many different tabs. Select the “Foundation” tab.
Find the “Survival” section: The “Foundation” tab contains many skills, but focus on the “Survival” section. This is where the skills that help you survive longer in the game are located.
Upgrade important skills: In the “Survival” section, you will see three key skills:
- Robust Constitution: This skill increases your maximum Health. Extremely important! You can upgrade this skill up to 6 times, and each upgrade will make you significantly tougher. Don’t be stingy with points and upgrade to the maximum as soon as you can!
- Rampant Vigor: This skill increases maximum Stamina. If you like a fast-paced playstyle, constantly dodging and striking, then this is a skill you can’t ignore. Just like Robust Constitution, you can upgrade Rampant Vigor 6 times.
- Spiritual Awakening: This skill increases maximum Mana. However, there is a special note: You can only unlock this skill when your character reaches level 30. If you are aiming for a “mage” playstyle and use a lot of spells, focus on leveling up quickly to unlock this important skill early. Otherwise, you can prioritize the two skills above first.
Small tip:
- Depending on your playstyle, you can prioritize upgrading different skills. If you like to “tank,” focus on Health. If you like to “dance around,” focus on Stamina.
- Don’t forget, to upgrade skills, you need Sparks points. You can earn Sparks by defeating enemies, completing quests, and exploring the world.
Part 2: Upgrading Through World Exploration – Scattered Elixirs
While exploring the vast and beautiful world of Black Myth: Wukong, don’t just get lost in the scenery or fighting enemies! Pay attention to searching for hidden items, especially Celestial Pills.
They will help you permanently increase your stats – a bargain you can’t miss! There are three main types of Celestial Pills, corresponding to three important stats:
- Celestial Jade Lotus Pills: This jade-green pill will help you permanently increase your Health. Each pill doesn’t increase much, but little by little, it helps you become tougher against enemy attacks.
- Celestial Taiyi Pill: This pill is yellow and permanently increases your Mana. If you are a “mage” who prefers to use spells, then finding Celestial Taiyi Pills is extremely important.
- Celestial Nonary Pill: This red pill will permanently increase your Stamina. The more Celestial Nonary Pills you find, the more you can move, dodge, and attack continuously without fear of running out of stamina.
So how do you find these precious elixirs?
Thorough exploration: This is the most important factor. Don’t be afraid to get lost! Check every nook and cranny, from dark caves to towering mountaintops.
Pay attention to chests: Celestial Pills are often hidden in chests, so be sure to unlock all the chests you find along the way.
Defeat bosses: Some tough bosses will reward you with Celestial Pills after being defeated. This is another reason for you to test your skills against the most difficult challenges.
Practice observation. Develop a habit to looking around, especially where has same architecture or has strange objects, that’s the places where dev put hidden items.
Celestial Pills are a worthy reward for your perseverance and spirit of exploration. Remember, each pill you find will help you get closer to the goal of becoming the “invincible” Monkey King!
Part 3: Xu Dog – Special Merchant (and Exchange Opportunity)
As you progress further into the storyline of Black Myth: Wukong, to Chapter 2, you will have the opportunity to meet a special character – Xu Dog at the Crouching Tiger Temple Cellar. Don’t miss the opportunity to “trade” with him, as this is another way for you to increase your stats!
Xu Dog is not an ordinary merchant. He has the ability to provide you with stat-boosting potions, but not with money, but with a special resource: Mind Cores.
Before you can trade with Xu Dog, you need to complete a small quest for him to retrieve the potion recipe (this information is in the guide, I will stick to it). This will unlock the trading ability.
What are Mind Cores and how do you get them? Mind Cores are a rare resource, usually obtained by defeating powerful enemies, especially bosses, or completing difficult challenges.
Once you have enough Mind Cores, you can exchange them for the following potions from Xu Dog:
- Jade Lotus Pill: Increases Health.
- Taiyi Pill: Increases Mana.
- Nonary Pill: Increase Stamina.
Basically, these potions have the same effect as the Celestial Pills you find during exploration. However, trading with Xu Dog allows you to be more proactive in choosing the type of potion you need.
To optimize your strength, you should combine all three methods above. Don’t just focus on one stat and neglect the others. A “well-rounded” Monkey King is a Monkey King who can handle any challenge!
