Unlike Captain Lotus-Vision, Captain Wise-Voice isn’t a boss you can choose to fight or ignore. He’s a Yaoguai King that you must face if you want to “clear” Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong. With the bizarre form of a four-legged “machine,” and the ability to “shoot lightning” that’s incredibly annoying.
Believe me, in the first few “encounters,” I “took a beating” quite a bit from the “erratic” lightning bolts and the “spinning” camera. This article won’t just be a “brief” guide, but a detailed “handbook” to help you “secure victory.” We will “dissect” the location, tactics, and of course, the “generous” rewards that await.
Location and Recommended Loadout
To find Captain Wise-Voice, you need to reach the Pagoda Realm in Chapter 3. He’s not “wandering” far, but “resides” right in the Mani Wheel area. Specifically:
From the Mani Wheel Shrine, you will see a steep stone bridge. Cross the bridge, and you will reach a cave entrance. Captain Wise-Voice is waiting for you inside.
Important note: Before “dealing with” Captain Wise-Voice, go back and “clean up” the 9 Lantern Wardens in the area. If not, you’ll miss the chance to receive the Auspicious Lantern Curio, a rather useful item. Once you’ve defeated Captain Wise-Voice, the Lantern Wardens will “disappear” permanently (unless you play New Game+).

Strengths: Long-range attacks with lightning, has a very powerful ultimate skill.
Weaknesses: The yellow spherical core, and the glowing leg.
Captain Wise-Voice Boss Fight and Guide
Phase 1: Before losing 50% health
Multi-directional Lightning: Shoots multiple lightning bolts in different directions. Keep moving sideways, or dodge when you see the lightning bolts approaching.
Chain Lightning: Shoots a lightning bolt, followed by a series of others chasing you. Dodge continuously.
Electric Circle from Leg: Creates an expanding electric circle from its leg. Dodge out of the circle, or jump.
Stomp to Create Lightning Spots: Stomps the ground, creating lightning spots around it. Run away from the lightning spots before they explode.
Charging Attack: It lowers its head and charges forward. Run to the side and lure it to crash into the wall, which will stun it.
Tip: Always lock the camera, focus on the glowing orange leg, that’s the weak point. Attacking this leg will stun it.
Phase 2: After losing 50% health
“Ultimate” Move: Flies up high, spins around, and shoots lightning all over the room. The floor will show lines, which will then explode.
Stage 1: Run continuously, dodge the lightning bolts. You can use Cloud Step to create “clones” to distract it.
Stage 2: When the floor starts to change color, immediately use Pillar Stance to jump high, avoiding the explosion.
Warning: Absolutely do not try to attack during this time, as the damage is very high. “Memorize” the attacks, especially the “ultimate” move.
General Strategy
- Focus your attacks on the glowing orange leg.
- When the boss is stunned (kneels down), focus damage on the yellow spherical core.
- Use Immobilize as soon as the boss is about to get up to “buy time” and continue attacking the core.
- Note about update 1.0.8.14860: Captain Wise-Voice has been slightly nerfed, so you can “breathe a little easier”.
