This optional boss, although not a “final boss”, possesses extremely annoying moves, especially the ability to spit poison and… “grow” extra arms!
This article will not only be a regular “walkthrough” guide. Based on my own “real combat” experience, along with gathering information from other Black Myth: Wukong experts and reliable sources. I will “reveal” to you unique strategies, tips, and detailed analysis of each “move” of Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw, helping you “defeat” him in the “sweetest” way! Ready to “slaughter” this frog?
Location
Before “clashing” with Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw, you need to know where he “hides” and what “gear” to prepare appropriately.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw “resides” in the Webbed Hollow area, more specifically Lower Hollow in Chapter 4 of the game. To get to him, you need to “roll around” quite a bit:
From the Lower Hollow Shrine, turn back, go through the spider cocoons.
Find a crack in the wall on the left, crawl through it.
Go up the slope, turn left and just follow the path.
You will reach an area with water, and Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw is “waiting” for you there.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw Boss Fight and Guide
Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw has two main phases, each phase requiring you to constantly adjust your strategy.
Phase 1 (Before the arm appears)
In this phase, Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw will use the basic attacks of frogs, combined with the ability to spit poison.
Jump and Slap: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw jumps up and slaps with both front hands. How to deal: Roll to the sides to dodge.
Swipe: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw swipes his hand from left to right (or vice versa). How to deal: Roll backward or time it precisely to Parry.
Belly Push: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw bulges his belly and pushes forward. How to deal: Roll to the sides.
Kickback: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw kicks his leg backward. How to deal: Don’t stand too close behind him.
Poison Spit: Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw spits out a large pool of poison. How to deal: Stay away from the poison pool, or use Antimiasma Pill if you get hit.
Poison Rain: After a while, Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw will “summon poison rain” covering most of the arena. How to deal: Run out of the affected area, or “bite” an Antimiasma Pill to “hold on”.
Overall strategy for phase 1
- Keep a safe distance, take advantage of ranged attacks.
- Immobilize when you have the opportunity to deal massive damage.
- Don’t be too “greedy” to attack, pay attention to dodging and healing when needed.
- Observe Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw’s movements, most of his attacks have signs.
Phase 2 (When the arm appears)
When Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw loses about half of his health, he will “grow” a giant… Buddha’s arm from his mouth! This arm will replace his tongue, and bring new extremely dangerous moves.
Palm Blast: The Buddha’s arm shoots out magic bullets. How to deal: Dodge to the sides when the arm retracts.
Whip: The arm flails wildly, hitting the player multiple times. How to deal: Keep your distance, or time it to Parry.
Straight Punch: The arm punches straight down. How to deal: Dodge to the sides.
Grab move (Extremely dangerous!): Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw will use his left hand (on your right side) to signal, then use the Buddha’s arm to grab you, dealing massive damage and poisoning you. How to deal: When you see him raise his left hand, dodge immediately!
Overall strategy for phase 2
- Be more careful with the arm’s attacks, as they have a longer range and are harder to predict.
- Focus on attacking Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw’s body, as the arm seems to be “tankier”.
- Continue to use Immobilize when you have the opportunity.
- Don’t try to “fight” the arm directly.
- If you get grabbed, use Antimiasma Pill immediately to neutralize the poison.
- Take advantage of the openings when the arm is “dancing” to attack.
When you have “defeated” Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw, you will receive the following worthy rewards:
- Tadpole: A rare ingredient, after defeating the last frog and collecting 6 of them, you will create a great Spirit.
- Buddha’s Left Hand: An important item, combined with Buddha’s Right Hand to craft or buy a special Immortal Blessing Gourd at Shen Monkey in Zodiac Village.
