Gray-Bronze Cart – Black Myth: Wukong

Hey everyone! Continuing the journey in Chapter 5 of Black Myth: Wukong, you will encounter the Gray-Bronze Cart, a rather troublesome Yaoguai Chief and the second cart in the Five Element Carts group created by Red Boy, blocking the way to Ashen Pass II. This article will provide a detailed guide and effective tips for you to defeat it. Basically, the Gray-Bronze Cart is a Yaoguai Chief belonging to Chapter 5, appearing in the Woods of Ember after the Height of Ember Shrine, with medium difficulty and is most vulnerable during the pauses between its fire attacks.

Location

To find the Gray-Bronze Cart, you need to start from the area after defeating the Father of Stones or from the nearby Height of Ember Shrine. Go through the large door right near the shrine (usually the door on the right wall according to Source 2). Just go straight along the main path, and you will soon reach a dark cave. Go through this cave; it will lead you down to a lower level of the valley. Just as you exit the cave, look to the left, and you will see a small, narrow path leading uphill. Important note: As you start going up this narrow path and get closer, the Gray-Bronze Cart will begin attacking with fire from a distance, so be careful! Just continue to the end of that narrow path, and you will see the Gray-Bronze Cart standing formidably blocking the end of the road. Right as you get close to it, notice a small alcove on the left side, where you can temporarily dodge attacks, and inside there is also a green Wisp.

Gray-Bronze Cart Boss Fight and Guide

The battle with the Gray-Bronze Cart takes place in a rather narrow area, with the boss staying almost stationary. It primarily uses fire attacks and a few physical punches at close range. The key point of this battle lies in fully utilizing the small alcove on the left side as you enter the combat area. This is your safe “base”.

Fire Breath: As soon as you enter or stand far away, the Gray-Bronze Cart will often breathe a large stream of fire straight ahead. When you see it preparing (usually charging up or showing signs of accumulating fire), immediately dash into the alcove on the left. If you are too far away, wait for it to finish breathing before approaching. Do not try to run through this fire stream.

Fist Slam – No Fire: When you get close, the boss might use its “hand” (fist-like part) to slam the ground right in front, but without fire. This is your golden opportunity! Dodge sideways or back slightly, then quickly counterattack with a combo on the cart’s “legs” or body.

Fire Slam / Fire AoE: This is the most dangerous attack at close range. The boss will visibly charge up, then slam down hard, creating a fire explosion or a wide area of spreading fire around its base. As soon as you see this sign, do not hesitate; jump or use Cloud Step to retreat immediately into the alcove. Standing close when this attack occurs will almost certainly cause you to lose a lot of health, even with the Fireproof Mantle.

Overall Strategy

  • Maximize Use of the Alcove: This is a safe haven from ALL of the boss’s fire attacks. Treat it like your home. Remember to also use the green Wisp inside to recover health/mana when needed.
  • Choose Attack Moments Precisely: The best and safest opportunity to attack is right after the boss performs the Fist Slam (no fire). You can unleash a full combo at this time. For other attacks, only land 1-2 quick hits if you are sure you have enough time to retreat safely into the alcove.
  • Smart Positioning: Actively get close to “bait” the boss into using the Fist Slam (no fire). As soon as you see signs of the Fire Slam/Fire AoE, the top priority is to retreat into the alcove. Using Cloud Step makes moving in and out between your attack position and the alcove much more flexible and safer.
  • Use Skills Wisely: Use Immobilize right after the boss finishes an attack (especially the non-fire one) to extend the time you can safely deal damage. Activate A Pluck of Many to increase total damage. Don’t forget to activate the Fireproof Mantle if you find yourself taking too much fire damage.

In summary, to defeat the Gray-Bronze Cart, remember to always stick to the alcove on the left to dodge fire, only attack when safe (especially after the regular punch), and use Cloud Step for flexible movement. The Fireproof Mantle is also very important. With patience and the right strategy, you will surely overcome it. Good luck!
