Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind – Black Myth: Wukong

Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind are the Yaoguai Chief you’ll face at Chapter 5 – Woods of Ember in Black Myth: Wukong. This is a tricky double battle with fire damage as the main theme: Quick as Fire rolls on the ground, leaving trails of fire, while Fast as Wind flies around, blowing fire winds and diving to attack. Legend has it they were once close rogue friends, who became demons after being beheaded. This guide, drawn from (Experience), will show you how to prepare equipment, dodge tips, and effective tactics to defeat this duo quickly.

Location and Recommended Loadout

You’ll find Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind in the Woods of Ember area, not far from the (Shrine) Height of Ember.

To get there, follow these steps:

  • Start from Shrine Height of Ember/Heights of Fire.
  • Go through the large wooden gate on the right.
  • Continue down the slope, then turn left and jump (or drop) into the crevice below.
  • Important point here: After descending into the crevice, don’t go straight ahead. Instead, turn around and follow the direction of the faint cries for help. (Experience: Many players easily miss this step and get lost).
  • You’ll soon come to a wider area, where a cutscene takes place with a (Fox Guai) hanging from a tree.
  • As soon as the cutscene ends, Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind will appear and the battle will begin. Note that you will have to defeat the boss Gray-Bronze Cart (one of the five elements cars) right before reaching this area.

Before facing Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind, make sure you have the best preparation. The most important equipment, almost indispensable for this match, is the Fireproof Mantle. Simple reason: it allows you to stand right in the sea of fire created by Quick as Fire without losing health (or greatly reducing it), making it much easier to reach and attack this head (Experience). As for weapons, prioritize those with fairly fast attack speed or enough damage so you can optimize the brief moments when the boss is (stunned). If there is any armor that increases fire defense stats other than the Mantle, just wear it to increase your sturdiness.

As for magic, Immobilize is an extremely valuable option. This skill works great when you need to hold one of the two heads (especially Fast as Wind) when it is brought to the ground or stunned, creating golden opportunities to burst damage. Other ranged attack spells can be useful for chipping away at Fast as Wind from a distance if you have the opportunity. Finally, don’t forget to check and bring enough health recovery items. The nearest (Shrine) for you to recover and prepare is the Height of Ember / Heights of Fire area.

Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind Boss Fight and Guide

The fight with Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind is a battle against two enemies at the same time, both of whom deal fire damage. Quick as Fire rolls around on the ground creating trails of fire, while Fast as Wind flies around in the air blowing wind and diving down to attack.

Phase 1: Both are alive

Dealing with Quick as Fire

Always keep an eye on the direction it’s rolling and dodge to the side to avoid both its head and the trails of fire it leaves behind. If you happen to catch fire, remember to roll continuously on the ground to put it out (Tip).

This is when the Fireproof Mantle shines. When wearing it, you can confidently stand in the fire to attack Quick as Fire continuously without worrying too much about health (Experience).

Attack Quick as Fire when it slows down or stops completely to “rest”. Absolutely avoid standing in front of its mouth when attacking; circle around to its side or behind to deal damage.

Note that strong attacks can send Quick as Fire flying far away, so you’ll need to quickly close the distance.

Dealing with Fast as Wind (in Phase 1)

While focusing on Quick, don’t forget that Fast is still flying around and attacking you from above with gusts of wind or fire. Keep moving continuously to dodge.

A useful little tip: You can use Quick as Fire as a shield. If you can trick Fast as Wind into diving into Quick as Fire, Fast will be stunned and fall to the ground, creating an opportunity to attack (Experience).

A mechanism to note: Occasionally, when Quick as Fire stops to rest, Fast as Wind can suck up all the fire on the floor and spray out a large wall of fire. Quickly dodge to either side or time your roll to pass through it.

Summary of Phase 1: Use Fireproof Mantle, focus on taking down Quick as Fire by attacking its side/back when it stops, continuously move to dodge Fast‘s attacks, and take advantage of opportunities when Fast is stunned.

Phase 2: Only Fast as Wind Remains

When Quick as Fire is defeated, Fast as Wind will go crazy and become significantly more aggressive.

Main attack: It will constantly perform extremely fast dives, trying to ram you with its tusks.

How to counter: The key here is to time your (dodge) perfectly, just before the dive reaches you. (Experience: This takes a little practice but is entirely feasible).

Successful outcome: If you dodge successfully, Fast as Wind will lose momentum, jam its tusks straight into the ground, and be (stunned) for a few precious seconds.

Golden opportunity: As soon as Fast is stunned, immediately approach and unleash your strongest attacks. This is the best chance to shave off its health.

Optimization Tip: Using Immobilize as soon as Fast is stunned on the ground will extend its immobility time, allowing you to deal massive damage (Experience).

Other attacks: In addition to the dive, Fast will continue to blow wind/fire and sometimes spray gusts of wind that form small tornadoes. These tornadoes are very short-lived, and you’re almost safe as long as you dodge the initial gust of wind.

Summary of Phase 2: Focus on dodging Fast‘s dive, counterattack strongly when it’s stunned, use Immobilize to optimize damage, and keep moving to avoid secondary attacks.

In short, to defeat Quick as Fire, Fast as Wind, focus on defeating Quick as Fire first by taking advantage of the Fireproof Mantle to attack in the sea of fire. Then, deal with Fast as Wind by accurately timing your dodge of its dive to stun it, then use Immobilize and burst damage. This is a match that requires patience and situation management skills, but with the right strategy, you’ll win and receive the rewards: Gold Tree Core and Refined Iron Sand. Congratulations on overcoming this challenge in Black Myth: Wukong!
