Elder Jinchi – Black Myth: Wukong

After more than 50 hours of “struggling” in Black Wind Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong, I have compiled my personal experience, combined with information from reputable wiki pages, lively gamer forums, and high-quality tutorial videos, to bring you the most detailed guide on the journey to “defeat” the hidden boss, Elder Jinchi. This article will not only help you find his location, but also give you combat tips to defeat him.

Location and Important Warning

To unlock the hidden map of chapter 1, you must find 3 hidden bells. The quest to find the three bells will take you exploring all over Black Wind Mountain. Each bell is guarded by a Yaoguai Chief, so be prepared to fight.

Bell 1: Forest of Wolves

From Outside the Forest Shrine, follow the path to the left, you will see a rope bridge over a stream. Continue straight across the bridge, you will reach an open area where Yaoguai Chief Guangzhi is waiting. Defeat Guangzhi, you will receive the Red Tides Transformation Spell. The first bell is at the end of this area.

Bell 2: Bamboo Grove

Go to the end of the Snake Trail area, before you reach the Marsh of the White Mists. You will face Yaoguai Chief Guangmou, who has the ability to summon snakes to attack. After defeating Guangmou, don’t rush to the next Shrine on the right. Instead, go down the stairs to the left of the bamboo forest, you will find the second bell.

Bell 3: Bamboo Grove (near Black Wind Cave)

After defeating the Whiteclad Noble, don’t go straight into Black Wind Cave. Instead, turn left, go through a small swamp area, you will reach a large square, where there are a few Wolf Guai sitting in front of a wolf hanging on a tree. The last bell is right behind them.

After ringing the third bell, you will be automatically teleported to the mysterious area called Ancient Guanyin Temple. After unlocking this mysterious area, you can freely come and go to this area by teleporting at the Shrines.

You have reached Ancient Guanyin Temple, the hiding place of Elder Jinchi. But don’t rush in to fight him right away. Take some time to explore this area and prepare carefully, because what you find here will help more or less for the upcoming battle.

Elder Jinchi Boss Fight and Guide

If you have ever “sparred” with the Wandering Wight, you will see that Elder Jinchi has many familiar attacks, but stronger and more dangerous. His attacks include:

Spin attack, Elder Jinchi will spin and attack (possibly one or more spins). Hard to predict the range, be careful.

Stomping (one or more times), he will stomp on the ground, causing damage around him. This attack can be chained.

Jump stomp, an “upgraded” version of the stomp attack, Elder Jinchi will jump up and stomp hard, causing more damage.

Palm Blast Wave, this is a particularly dangerous attack. Elder Jinchi will gather energy and unleash a powerful palm blast. The special point is that he will summon zombie disciples to increase his power and slow down this attack, making it more difficult to time the dodge.

The strategy to fight this old man is to keep a safe distance because Elder Jinchi has a fairly wide attack range, so always keep a distance to have time to react. Prioritize dodging Elder Jinchi‘s attacks because his attacks are very painful, so dodging will be more important than trying to take hits to deal damage. After Elder Jinchi launches attacks, there will be a short period of time for you to counterattack. Take advantage of these moments. Don’t forget that the Immobilize Spell is the “key” to controlling Elder Jinchi and creating opportunities to attack.

During the battle, Elder Jinchi will summon zombie disciples. Initially, they are quite harmless, but don’t be complacent! The zombie disciples will move slowly around the arena and will not attack you. You can destroy them with a single attack to restore a small amount of health. Take advantage of this to “heal” when needed. But when Elder Jinchi gives the order (“Bullying an old man! Curse you!”), the zombie disciples will glow and chase you. If they touch you, they will explode, causing damage.

Take advantage of the environment, when your health is low, proactively find and destroy the zombie disciples to recover. When being chased, run around the arena to let the zombie disciples explode themselves, stay away from Elder Jinchi to avoid being hit unnecessarily.

When Elder Jinchi‘s health is down to about half, he will fly into the air and begin a special healing process. Elder Jinchi will summon zombie disciples from all over, and they will slowly move towards him. If they touch Elder Jinchi, he will be restored a certain amount of health. As soon as Elder Jinchi flies up, immediately run around the arena and destroy the zombie disciples before they can get close to him. After he lands, he will continue to attack the player as before, so you should persistently repeat the attack.

After defeating Elder Jinchi, return to the location of the third bell (near Black Wind Cave, where the wolf is hanging). Interact with the wolf’s corpse, you will free its soul and receive the Fireproof Mantle.

The Fireproof Mantle is a special Vessel, which greatly increases your resistance to fire (Burn Resistance), makes you immune to fire damage from lava (Scorch Damage). In addition, for a short time after activation, it is also completely immune to fire (Burn Immunity) and gradually increases Focus (an important stat in combat).

Note: The Fireproof Mantle is extremely useful when you explore areas with lava or face the Black Wind King – another boss also related to fire.
