Location and Important Warning
Gore-Eye Daoist, unlike some bosses who like to “show off,” chooses to hide quite well. To meet him, your starting point is the Yellow Wind Formation area, and more specifically at the Windseal Gate Shrine. From here, in theory, you just need to go straight along the only path. But, don’t let this simplicity fool you!
This area has a few turns that “tempt” you to go off course. If you find yourself in an area that doesn’t have a large stone door, then you’ve definitely gone the wrong way. Return to the Windseal Gate Shrine and follow the main path.
The correct path will lead you to a large stone door – this is an important “milestone”. After passing through this door, you will cross a bridge – and that’s when you prepare to “encounter” Gore-Eye Daoist. Before “bumping into” Gore-Eye Daoist, make sure you’ve prepared thoroughly. This guy is no pushover, with a bunch of eyes on his back and the ability to “bathe” you in a sea of blood.
Gore-Eye Daoist Boss Fight and Guide
Gore-Eye Daoist has a rather annoying “pattern”, but if you understand it, you’ll find him not too scary. Let’s break down the battle into phases:
Phase 1: Opening
As soon as the battle begins, he will roar and slam his Staff down, creating a series of blood pools around him. As soon as you see him start to roar, Dodge away immediately. This attack inflicts Poison immediately if you stand close.
Phase 2: Main Attacks
Arcing Blood Spray: He will wave his Staff and spray blood around, forming an arc. Dodge behind him, or jump back and use Thrust Stance to attack from a distance.
Blood Projectiles: He will lean back and fire a series of blood projectiles from the eyes on his back. Dodge continuously, or use Staff Spin to destroy the projectiles. The blood projectiles will follow you, so don’t stand still.
Straight Blood Spray: He will point his Staff forward and spray a stream of thick blood.
Phase 3: Healing
This is when he’s at his “dirtiest”. He will crouch down, and red blood strands will connect from his eyes to the blood pools, sucking blood and restoring HP. So, as soon as you see him start to crouch down and the blood strands appear, use Immobilize immediately. If you’re not fast enough, use any strong attack that can cause Stagger to interrupt. If you let him heal, the battle will drag on and you will waste a lot of resources.
General Strategy
Positioning and Movement: Try to maintain a medium distance, avoid standing in blood pools. Continuously move to avoid ranged attacks. When you have the opportunity, push him against a wall to limit his range of movement.
Attack and Defense: Prioritize attacking after he has just finished an attack, utilizing attacks that cause Stagger (e.g., Smash Stance). Always prioritize dodging over blocking, as his attacks cause very annoying effects.
