Location and Important Warning
To confront the Kingdom of Sahali version of Tiger Vanguard, you can’t just “skip” straight to it. This is a secret area, and unlocking it requires you to complete a series of quests related to the Yellow-Robed Squire (also known as the Drunken Boar). You can read the article here to complete the quest.
Tiger Vanguard (Kingdom of Sahali) Boss Fight and Guide
Tiger Vanguard (Kingdom of Sahali) is the father of Tiger Vanguard and Mad Tiger. But he exudes an air of righteousness and heroism. Completely different from his two children.
Tiger Vanguard’s main attacks and how to deal with them
Leaping Claw Slash: He often starts the battle by crouching low towards you, pouncing with his claws and slashing with his sword. Move back or dodge to the side. This attack is often accompanied by a spinning slash, be careful.
Spinning Sword Sweep: He spins and slashes in a wide circle with his sword. Move back or jump to avoid it. Can be blocked with Rock Solid, but requires precise timing.
Roar of Stone: He raises both hands and roars, dealing damage and creating stone explosions around him. Very difficult to dodge completely. The best way is to use Immobilize and deal enough damage to stagger him before he can roar.
Lunging Sword Slice: He lunges low and delivers a single sword slash. Easier to dodge than Leaping Claw Slash, just move back or dodge to the side.
Projectile Slash: Occasionally, he will swing his sword up and create a wave of sword energy that flies towards you. The sword wave moves slowly, easily dodged.
Rock Solid: He can use Rock Solid to block your attacks. When he uses it, his fur will darken (not completely turn to stone like the Crouching Tiger Temple version). Stop attacking immediately when you see him “turn to stone”. If you attack, he will counterattack with a spinning claw attack, followed by an overhead slash (with a delay). Wait for him to start moving again and then unleash a heavy attack.
Sword Drag and Uppercut: Drags his sword across the floor, creating a trail of sparks, then uppercuts. Use Rock Solid or evade sideways.
Weaknesses
Very vulnerable to fire: Using Fire-type attacks (like Red Tides) will deal massive damage.
Can be interrupted while roaring: Take advantage of Immobilize and quick attacks to prevent him from roaring.
Overall Strategy
Maintain a safe distance, take advantage of ranged attacks (if you have them).
Use Rock Solid intelligently to block attacks and create counterattack opportunities.
Exploit his weakness to fire with Red Tides (combined with Evanescence to inflict Scorch).
Don’t attack when he’s using Rock Solid.
Advanced Tactics
When he uses Rock Solid, if you block with Rock Solid he will be surprised and you can counterattack.
Red Tides combined with Evanescence can inflict Scorch twice.
After defeating Tiger Vanguard (Kingdom of Sahali), you will receive the Tiger Tally.
Tiger Vanguard (Kingdom of Sahali) is a formidable challenge, but with thorough preparation, the right strategy, and a bit of finesse, you can absolutely defeat him. Remember to exploit his weakness to fire, use Rock Solid intelligently, and don’t forget the resource management tips we’ve discussed.
